Serafina Maiorano

Serafina was born in Adelaide in 1968. Her parents migrated from Circello (Benevento) in the 1950s. Serafina is a producer, project manager and cultural worker. She is currently the interim Executive Producer of Experimenta, a national media arts organisation (www.experimenta.org).

Her work practice over the years has included: Communications and Business Manager for Parallelo, a leading Australian performance company; Communications Coordinator for the 2002 Adelaide Festival (www.adelaidefestival.net.au), an internationally respected multi artform festival; Campaign Coordinator for Justice for Refugees SA, South Australia’s peak advocacy coalition for refugees; Project Coordinator for Urban Theatre Projects (www.urbantheatre.com.au); Producer and Project Manager of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s ‘Moon Plain’ public art work, created by artist Matej Andraz Vogrincic.

Serafina was until mid 2002 the Vice President of COMITES SA (Council for Italians Abroad in South Australia). She is currently a board/committee member of the Adelaide Fringe Festival (www.adelaidefringe.com.au) and the Graham F Smith Peace Trust. She has been a board member of the Australian Network for Art and Technology (www.anat.org.au), Australia’s peak network and advocacy body for artists working with technology; and the Women’s Advisory Council in South Australia, the state government’s official advisory body for women. In the latter she contributed to three standing committees: Women and Violence; Women, Work and the Economy and Young Women.
